Folk Nepal

Folk Nepal is a social welfare organisation established in 2000. Its mission is: To contribute to improve the lives of underprivileged and needy people in Nepal in the sectors of health, education and income generation by selling quality fair trade products in its showroom but also with exports.

Objectives

  • To assist handicraft producers by promoting and selling their products world wide.
  • To provide medical support to underprivileged people in remote areas.
  • To take on an active role in supporting education and capacity building activities to improve the overall development of the country.

Social Welfare Program

Educational Support Project

Every year, Folk Nepal provides scholarships and educational material to students of remote areas of Nepal. There are currently 110 students from 6 schools of Jhapa and Barabise that we support with scholarships till 10th grade.

Medical Camp

  • Folk Nepal sets up Medical Camps every year in remote areas of Nepal for general health check up, and to provide treatment.
  • Dolpa medical camp 2004 with 400 patients.
  • Eye treatment camp 2008 in Khotang with 755 patients.

Humanitarian assistance

  • Folk Nepal has helped people affected by landslides or by severe medical conditions (kidney & heart problems).
  • Support to Khotang after landslide in 2005 with financial contribution to rebuild the school.

Training and capacity building

  • Folk Nepal has provided skill development training to women over the years.
  • Tailoring in 2002 to 36 women.

Anniversary Program

Each year in November, Folk Nepal organises different activities such as providing meals to old age homes, blood donation, etc.
