Auromira Exports, India

Auromira is a fair trade organisation based in Pondichery, South India. The principle goal of Auromira Exports is to improving the lives of the less privileged rural youth of the surrounding Villages of Pondicherry by helping them to create beautiful, simple and useful handicrafts in order to become self reliant artisans fully integrated in their communities.

One of the aims of Auromira is to promote handweaving, readymade garments, and the related crafts (hand-dyeing, hand embellishment of textiles, needlework etc.) to create simple and beautiful textiles of a high quality as a sustainable approach to generate self-employment in our rural villages. Auromira is involved in the training of unskilled youth and establishing them as independent producers in any of the weaving related areas, supporting them through our project with marketing and design input.

Auromira is a small organisation currently working with 5 producer groups. The organisation is not receiving any funds for its social activities and with their limited margin they can give to their producers groups 14 days holiday per year with salaries, free medical expenses, long term loans and short term advances.

Auromira provides Shared Earth with a range of soaps and incenses.
